BLM protesters, supporters hypocrites who ignore real, modern slavery

Black Lives Matter protesters descend upon Washington and the statue of US President Andrew Jackson

As the mindless thugs who fancy themselves defenders of black lives and opponents of white supremacy tear down statues all through the West, there are millions upon millions of men, women and children who are sold into slavery by people of color each and every year.

It’s hard to believe. Great Britain abolished slavery in the 18th Century, the United States emancipated its slaves in the 19th Century, but here we are in the 21st Century and there are more blacks enslaved in Africa today than in all the 350 years of slavery in the West.

Let that sink in.

The slave trade is more pervasive today than at the height of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. According to the Global Slavery Index, there are 9.2 million black slaves in Africa. Those slaves are owned by fellow blacks.

Modern slavery is a multi-billion business earning slavers and other criminals an estimated $150 billion annually.

Incredibly, the G-20 countries import about $354 billion worth of products produced by modern slavery each and every year.

There are actual slave auctions in Libya. In 2017, one of the auctions was filmed where 12 blacks were sold off.

In Mali and Mauritania, slavery is ingrained in the culture. In the latter, fully 20 per cent of the population is enslaved. In the former, slavery is not even illegal and children born to slaves become slaves. Women are purchased in order to breed slaves.

Yet all across the United States, Canada and Great Britain, people who have never been slaves, who are not the children of slaves, nor even the grandchildren of slaves are tearing down statues, looting stores and burning police headquarters all in the name of Black Lives Matter and horrors of slavery.

Politicians are falling over themselves in the rush to remove statues and rename schools and streets for fear of offending BLM.

Corporations are pouring millions of dollars into the coffers of BLM and proclaiming their wokeness.

All of it reeks of hypocrisy.

Not all black lives matter to Black Lives Matter. If they did, it and its supporters would be demanding curbs on the drug trade, the sex trade and green industry – all of which use slaves to ply the world with drugs, clothes, consumer electronics and rare minerals for batteries.

What we have instead are mindless, ignorant twenty-somethings mouthing catchphrases and giving vent to juvenile urges to rebel.

These protests are the woke version of cos-play – costume playing – that millennial have elevated to a form of art.

But like everything they attempt, the protesting and the rioting is without substance, without foundation.

It’s time we told them to sit down and shut up and let the adults get on with the business of making this world a better place.
